Now he's getting a trip to New York for the 2011 Heisman Trophy live announcement on Saturday, December 10, airing on ESPN at 8pm EST. LSU's Tyrann Mathieu will then take a trip to New orleans for the 2011 BCS National Championship on Monday, January 9, 2012.
The 'Honey Badger' Tyrann Mathieu tweeted shortly after the announcement, early Monday evening, "Thank GOD!! I am truly blessed!!".

The five finalists for this year's award are University of Wisconsin running back Montee Ball, Baylor University quarterback Robert Griffin III, Stanford University quarterback Andrew Luck, Louisiana State University cornerback Tyrann Mathieu, and University of Alabama running back Trent Richardson.
For the fourth straight year in college football, two Heisman finalists will face each other in the BCS National Championship Game as Trent Richardson will try to rush against Tyrann Mathieu's LSU defense on January 9, 2012.
LSU's 'Honey Badger' Tyrann Mathieu is hoping to be the second LSU Tiger to win The Heisman Memorial Trophy since Billy Cannon won in 1959. The 'Honey Badger', a sophomore at Louisiana State University, had 2 interceptions, 5 forced fumbles and 71 tackles so far this year. He also had 2 touchdowns and gained 420 yards in punt returns during the LSU Tiger's 13-0 season. If Tyrann Mathieu wins the 2011 Heisman Trophy, he will be the second cornerback to be inducted into this group of outstanding college football players joining 1997's Charles Woodson.
