2011 BCS Championship: LSU Tigers vs Alabama Crimson Tide

2011 BCS National Championship: #1 LSU Tigers vs #2 Alabama Crimson Tide

January 9, 2012 - NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana. The #1 LSU Tigers & #2 Alabama Crimson Tide will meet again at the Superdome! The #1 LSU Tigers won their regular season meeting in overtime, against the #2 Alabama Crimson Tide by a score of 9-6.

Slow start for the LSU Tigers. Alabama Roll Tide leads 3-0 at end of 1st quarter. Turning point in the game for the LSU Tigers could be the Jeremy Shelley 42 yard field goal attempt blocked by LSU in the 2nd quarter?
            Nope that wasn't it.

Maybe the turning point in the game for the LSU Tigers will be the Jeremy Shelley 41 yard field goal attempt missed in the 3rd quarter?
            Nope that wasn't it either.

Maybe the sack of Alabama QuarterBack McCarron in early in the 4th quarter?
            Nope that wasn't it either.

Alabama Crimson Tide wins BCS Championship game 21-0.

The Louisiana State University Tigers got taken behind the wood shed on Monday night, getting blown out by the Alabama Crimson Tide during the BCS National Championship game. It was extremely embarrassing for the LSU Tigers and the LSU Tiger fans. Was there more to this humiliating defeat than just a good old-fashion butt-kicking? We may never know. Jarrett Lee rots on the bench while Jordan Jefferson stinks it up on the field

There's a conspiracy theory floating around down on the Bayou about Les Miles & his offense coaching staff melt down: Is There Smoke? Is There Another Reason Why LSU Lost? Was there something going on behind the scenes to explain Louisiana State University's non-performance in the game? Isn't Les Miles is too good a coach to not do what is best for his team and to try to win? I don't agree with the "throwing the game" aspect of the article; however, it was totally out of character for Les Miles to stick with LSU Quarterback Jordan Jefferson throughout the pitiful offensive performance. One would expect based on Les Miles's previous behavior that Jarrett Lee would have at least have been put in for one offensive series, or definitely a single down or two. At some point in the 4th quarter, every Louisiana State University fan was asking, "Where is Jarrett Lee?" In the past, Les Miles has not been hard-headed or boring. Historically Les Miles's teams are dynamic in their offensive play calling, especially late in the game when a momentum shift is required. On Monday, it seemed like Miles was being hard-headed and trying to prove a point. I've gotta believe the conspiracy theory in this case. LSU Quarterback Jarrett Lee was definitely on Les Miles bad side. Or maybe Les Miles has graduated to a full-fledged mad-hatter. You know, mercury does makes you crazy!

2011 Regular season: #1 LSU Tigers vs #2 Alabama Crimson Tide

November 5, 2011 - Bryant–Denny Stadium, Tuscaloosa, Alabama. It's #1 LSU Tigers vs #2 Alabama Crimson Tide! But ... Oh, No! No, No, No. CBS Sports TV Team, Verne Lundquist & Gary Danielson are working this game. What a bummer. They suck! And sure enough, Verne Lundquist calls the game poorly ... he calls: "Intercepted by Alabama" on a LSU Tiger reception by Russell Shepard on the Alabama 8 for 34 yards from Jordan Jefferson.

Trent Richardson Rushing Hype vs LSU's Rushing Trio (#9 Jefferson, #11 Ware, #42 Michael Ford)

All the talk and hype was about the rushing ability of Trent Richardson; however, the real key to the game was the rushing ability of LSU's RB Spencer Ware , (#11, Cincinnati, Ohio), and QB Jordan Jefferson (#9, Destrehan, Louisiana), and RB Michael Ford (#42, Leesville, Louisiana). Alabama RB Trent Richardson had 22 rushing attempts for 89 yards, while the trio of Spencer Ware, QB Jordan Jefferson, and RB Michael Ford had 38 attempts for 144 yards.

The LSU Tigers have the best defensive in the country!

The LSU Tigers have the best defensive line in the country! The "Honey Badger" (CB Tyrann Mathieu, #7, New Orleans, Louisiana) had some mental errors, but CB Eric Reid (#1, Geismar, Louisiana) said: "Honey Who?" as Reid returned a field goal blocked by Bennie Logan to the L-S-U 48 for 26 yards in the 2nd quarter, and intercepted a Marquis Maze pass at the LSU 1 in the 4th quarter.

The LSU Tigers dominate Alabama Crimson Tide in field-goal kicking

The real tale to be told is how the LSU Tigers dominated the Special Teams play. LSU Kicker Drew Alleman makes all 3 field-goal attempts. Alabama Kickers have trouble with field-goals, missing 4 out of 6.
